After two weeks of not doing exercise, we got back on schedule last night. It’s always strange how easy we will put anything else as more important than doing something that is healthy for us.
We did our Ninjitsu training, or at least a recap of most of the things we’ve done so far. And luckily we still remember everything. It felt good doing it again and I know we’ll make a better effort to just carry on the next time we feel we can to take a break.
Taking a break is not a bad thing, but it must be taken at the right time!

I did my progress test on 16 February 2009, and since then I’ve only done 2 training sessions after that. It’s been a busy few weeks, but tonight I forced myself to start with week 3 again. So I should be back on track.
It didn’t feel as bad as I thought it would after not having done it in about 2 weeks.
We’ve also been slipping with the Ninjitsu training.
It’s strange how life can interfere with stuff you really should be doing.
It’s all about kicking yourself in gear and just start doing it, instead of contemplating the whole time why you’re not doing it!

I regret to say that we didn’t keep up to our schedule way we were away in the bush doing the 4 wheel drive guide course. It just seemed like we were either in class or studying, or making food the whole time.
Last night we carried on with our schedule though, so we only lost out on 2 training sessions. We went through everything again, and then went on to learn 2 more deflections. For a hook punch and a back hand.
The back hand deflection is quite simple, as it’s very similar to what we were taught in Kungfu. The hook punch deflection is a bit strange, and I like it a lot. Not really strange, but unconventional to normal fighting. You’re stepping into the punch, going down to avoid it, and ending up behind your attacker. Just this movement alone will put your attacker off so much and you’ll be able to take advantage of that.

Due to the first aid course we were on and having to study for it, we couldn’t do our training on Saturday. Luckily we didn’t miss a class as if it was a normal class, so we could carry on last night where we had left off.
We are still just carrying on with the techniques we had learned so far. Our warm up sessions are also getting more and more hectic as we try and push ourselves just that extra bit.
As part of tonight’s session we included a bit of sparring (fighting) where we would hit each other and try and block it. Luckily no one got seriously hurt
For the next couple of days we’re off to do our 4 wheel drive guide course, and it means we’ll be out in the bush. We’re quite excited about this, and the only problem we have is that we’ll miss out on 2 training sessions. We’ve decided though that we will do this in the mornings at the camp site.

Deciding to rather have 1.5 hour training sessions was a good thing. If feels like you’re getting a good workout, and you can spend more time on the techniques.
We tried a different exercise routine this evening, and although I thought at the beginning it would not be as intense, it was actually. Not as much cardio as with our other routine, but we like mixing things up every now and then. Otherwise, it gets boring!
This exercise routine was actually taken off Oprah’s website, believe it or not. 20 minute workout for just about every part of your body.
As with our previous session we’re still just carrying on with what we’ve learned so far. Practise practise practise!
We’ve got a nice rhythm going when we do the Kate Dante, and it’s starting to feel more natural performing the moves that felt very unnatural when we started.
